🌸点風ガストロノミー・アートラボ Tenpu Gastronomy Art Lab🌸

The “Tenpu Gastronomy Art Lab” is a unique organization that blends two distinct fields: Braille Digital Art and gastronomy.

By combining the rich experiences we’ve cultivated through food with the tactile expression of Braille Digital Art, we create a multi-sensory world that anyone can enjoy, regardless of sight.

This project goes beyond just art or food; it aims to be a new form of communication that connects people to each other and to culture.

Business activities

1.Research into Tabletop Synesthesia

Mission of the Gastronomy Art Lab

  • Purpose:
    • We explore how the taste and aroma of food can be converted into tactile, visual, and auditory sensations.
    • We will establish a new methodology for expressing the experience of gastronomy as art.
    • It’s a research hub that explores the intersections of art, cuisine, science, and social diversity.
  • Main Activities:
    • Holding regular research sessions where artists, culinary researchers, engineers, and visually impaired individuals gather.
    • Creation and exhibition of Braille Digital Art centered on the theme of “food.”
    • Publishing research findings (in papers, books, lectures, etc.).
2.Multi-Sensory Dining – Events and Workshops
  • A Universal Dining Experience for All Five Senses
  • Purpose:
    • To provide a space where everyone, regardless of sight, can experience the richness of food.
    • To encourage participants to rediscover their own senses and gain new insights.
  • Main Events:
    • “Blind Gastronomy”:
      • An experiential event where participants wear blindfolds and taste dishes guided by a Braille menu and tactile art.
      • We will add sound and scent to the experience so that participants can fully experience the story of the dish with all five senses.
    • “The Story of Food” Art Exhibition:
      • Exhibiting dishes developed in our lab as Braille Digital Art pieces.
      • Visitors will experience the art from multiple perspectives by touching the works, listening to their sounds, and actually tasting the dishes.
3.Communication Tool Development
  • A “Tactile” Medium to Enrich the Dining Table
  • Purpose:
    • We develop tools that deepen conversations at the dinner table and enable more inclusive communication.
  • Main Activities:
    • Tactile Recipe Book
      • We are developing a digital recipe platform that anyone can use, combining Braille, tactile diagrams, and audio guides.
    • More literal and direct
      • We incorporate tactile art that expresses the concept of a dish and its ingredients onto plates and placemats, encouraging new conversations among participants.
