Kominka Project

A brand-new project, “The Sensorial Kominka Braille Digital Art Museum Hotels,” is coming to the outskirts of Himeji, Japan. This is the world’s first collection of museum hotels that fuses traditional Japanese “kominka” (old folk houses) with modern digital art.

The project is designed to offer an experience unlike any other. Stepping into these historic homes, guests will find a unique form of digital art based on Braille, creating an environment that awakens all five senses. Through touch, sound, and even scent, the art tells the stories and memories of these old houses, all while fostering a sense of harmony with nature.

This tranquil space—a nexus where past and present meet—is an invitation to experience the quiet beauty of these timeless homes through a completely new lens.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a new cultural project in Himeji! We’re planning to create the world’s first collection of Kominka Braille Digital Art Museum Hotels in the suburbs of the city.

This project is a new step in our ongoing efforts to create a large-scale, comprehensive Braille digital art museum in front of Himeji Castle. We want to build a new center for international exchange within Japan’s traditional architecture, providing a broader range of experiences in the outskirts of Himeji.

This business aims to create a society where everyone, including those with and without visual impairments, can share in the wonder of innovative art. The project fuses Braille and digital technology to create an experience that can be appreciated by people from all over the world. We’re confident that these hotels will also significantly contribute to local economic growth by becoming an international tourist destination.
